Hoopdarshan Episode 102: Vishesh Bhriguvanshi Keeps Winning


In Episode 102, Team India captain Vishesh Bhriguvanshi returns to Hoopdarshan to discuss his miraculous game-winner in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers against Iraq, his dream come true with the Arjuna Award, his recent biography, and that viral ‘pawri’ video. Hosted by Kaushik Lakshman and Karan Madhok. 

Guard/forward for Team India and ONGC, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi has been one of India's best basketball players for over a decade, and recently led India to a 1-1 record in the latest window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. Hailing from Varanasi, Bhriguvanshi was conferred the prestigious Arjuna Award last year. 

In Episode 102, Kaushik and Karan also discuss NBA Academy India's Harshwardhan Tomar receiving a scholarship to play in the US and share their opinions in the most wide-open NBA MVP race in years.

Hanuman Singh Rathore - Hoopistani Indian Basketball Hall of Fame

Whether he suited up for Rajasthan, Railways, or India, Hanuman Singh Rathore was often the smallest guy on the basketball court. But the talented guard exceeded expectations and succeeded with heart over height over a glittering basketball career in the 1970s-80s, with highlights including the Arjuna Award and a spot in India's only Olympic team. Today, Rathore is added to the Hoopistani Indian Basketball Hall of Fame . Rathore was born in Bhagwanpur, in Nagaur district of Rajasthan in February 1950. He attended the Military School in Ajmer and then the Rajasthan University in Jaipur. By the time he began to play for Rajasthan's state teams, the 5-foot-9 guard had developed into one of the best young talents in the country. Singh eventually joined Indian Railways, for whom he manned the point en-route to several titles in the domestic national championships.
